Complete Renovation of 2 Bedroom Sunshine Coast Apartment by the Ocean
We recently completed a 2 bed x 1 bath unit renovation by the ocean in Maroochydore. The scope of work consisted of a full strip out, new electrical, new plumbing, new kitchen and bathroom, new ceiling with down lights, new flooring throughout and fresh paint.
The unit was located on the 2nd floor of the building so we did everything to accommodate the neighbouring tenants and body corporate. From the feedback we received we definitely achieved the desired outcome. We also had a strict timeline to adhere to as the client only had so much accommodation available because this project fell at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak.
As with most renovations the initial scope grew as the project progressed as the building structure was originally built in the early 1970’s. So we had our fair amount of challenges dealing with 50 year old tiles and walls that were not level. Upgrading of the electrical switchboard and hot water system was a must, not only for efficiency but also safety.
The original ceiling was the standard “rough” finish of apartments built in that era. To create the sharp lines of modern homes we battened and re-lined the ceiling. This also allowed for downlights something the client was delighted with. We also managed to hide some unsightly electrical conduits that were in place by battening certain wall and sheeting with gyprock. We also recessed the flat screen television, as the clients reaction said it all when she saw the finished product.
The design brief was simple, and that was to create a modern, clean line finish. Nothing ultra modern but a design that will stand tall in years to come. We were able to open up the bathroom somewhat as the original position of the toilet was partitioned off and made for a cramped wet area. With demolition of the block wall (body corporate approval) we re-designed the outlay of the bathroom and created a much more user friendly space.
The outcome of this modernised 70’s apartment perfectly compliments the beachside location. With ocean views from the property this Sunshine Coast unit renovation has really transformed this tired looking apartment into a cosy home.
